The Young Men’s Service League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit national organization. Members of YMSL are moms and their teenage sons who volunteer together to serve their local communities during his four years of high school. YMSL represents over 12,900 moms and 14,600 young men as part of over 170 plus chapters across 22 states. YMSL offers moms service opportunities and time together with her son(s) to grow their relationship and to instill in him a heart of service to last a lifetime. In addition to service, as part of its four-year comprehensive program, YMSL teaches leadership and life skills to develop our young men to become the capable, confident and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
Recently, founder of Cooking for the Crowd, Elizabeth Furrh gave a presentation to a room full of young men in Dallas to share with them the opportunity to offer their time and talent to help (with their moms!) for a good cause.
The young men learned about the value of learning cooking skills, knife skills, proper hygiene and cleaning. Cooking for the Crowd has periodic opportunities for volunteering, particularly as the organization begins to grow. A commercial kitchen is on the horizon and these young men will be asked in the near future to come help clean, paint, and organize the new space. This will be in addition to help with scaling the Cooking for the Crowd operation to serve even more worthy charities looking to share a hot meal with the people they serve.
Stay tuned to this space for more information on the impending commercial kitchen and incredible volunteer opportunities!
May it be so!
