Partner Spotlight : Readers 2 Leaders

Recently, Cooking for the Crowd had the opportunity to provide lunch for the Readers 2 Leaders board meeting. Readers 2 Leaders is a Dallas-based nonprofit on a mission to “equip students for success through the power of reading.” They provide high-quality, evidence-based literacy tutoring to children during the school day, after school, and in summer camps, while also offering training and coaching in the science of reading to educators and caregivers. Through this dual approach, they strive to give every student equitable access to literacy, believing that reading is a human right that can unlock lifelong learning and opportunity. Their impact is profound and filling the bellies of the board while the work and plan for their organization is one of the reasons Cooking for the Crowd exists. Saving this organization on lunch helps serve their bottom line mission.

The meal was simple, yet hearty. Everyone was thrilled to eat together... and eat healthy. Because that's part of it. Meals that make a difference because they're made with real ingredients. And with love.

Cooking for the Crowd was founded with the simple premise: Love, respect and dignity are foundational to human potential and the fact that small non-profit organizations inefficiently spend much of their time and resources feeding the people they serve, regardless of their actual mission. This essay shares Cooking for the Crowd's mission: to take cooking off Reader 2 Leader's plate so they can focus on their mission.
