Elizabeth brings the hot food in from the van

On a busy Wednesday afternoon in downtown Dallas, the Booker T Washington for the Visual and Performing Arts' Music Guild needed a hot, affordable meal for orchestra students preparing for a concert that evening. It's expensive to feed 80 high schoolers and the Music Guild parents are committed to an affordable and healthy meal through Cooking for the Crowd.

The empty space is quickly transformed to convert the empty cafeteria into a feast for hungry music students who need nourishment before their big Spring performance. There isn't much time from when the final bell rings to students lining up for their dinner. The food is hot, ready to serve and served with a smile!

Cooking for the Crowd was founded with the simple premise: Love, respect and dignity are foundational to human potential and the fact that small non-profit organizations inefficiently spend much of their time and resources feeding the people they serve, regardless of their actual mission. This essay shares Cooking for the Crowd's mission: to take cooking off BTWPVA Music Guild's plate so they can focus on their mission! Getting these students fed and ready for their Spring show!

May it be so! Thanks for reading the latest installment of a storytelling series where we highlight the missions of the amazing groups we serve.
