Cooking for the Crowd's Commercial Kitchen!

Great news! Thanks to the generosity of Cooking for the Crowd donors, we are pleased to announce that we have signed a memorandum of understanding for a commercial kitchen! It is located near downtown Dallas in the East Dallas Christian Church complex. It's an underutilized space for them and for Cooking for the Crowd to take over this space is a godsend for both parties. The church gets a mission-aligned renter and Cooking for the Crowd gets a space to expand the cooking operation at a less-than-market-rate for a comparable kitchen.

This is a big game changer for so many worthy charitable nonprofits in the Dallas area because it means Cooking for the Crowd can provide a meal program for more organizations with a social service mission. The truth is food entices people show up for services. And in many cases this is one of the only balanced, hot meals that some people get as they navigate the landscape of learning English, getting help they need to raise their kids, legal assistance or whatever service they're seeking to pull themselves up and make their lives better.

The first step to our new kitchen was a deep clean! My goodness it was necessary!

Next up was the permitting. And the good news from the city of Dallas is that we're good to go with a few repairs and upgrades that need to happen within the next year. A major hurdle has been cleared with this good news and now the fun begins. How to update, upgrade and outfit this space to up the game in meal production. Below is a gallery of the fine equipment we'll be using. Please stay tuned for an early summer Open House. Everyone will be invited. We can't wait to show you around in person.

Cooking for the Crowd was founded with the simple premise: Love, respect and dignity are foundational to human potential and the fact that small non-profit organizations inefficiently spend much of their time and resources feeding the people they serve, regardless of their actual mission. It's exciting to share the news about the new kitchen to help Cooking for the Crowd's mission, which is to take cooking off social service organization's plates so they can focus on their mission!
